November 26, 2014:
Finished off a pair of DRGW GP30's tonight. Both units,
#3021, were detailed and weathered. Also went back
and added some weathering to the Wheeling and Lake Erie units I
finished last week.
November 24, 2014:
Finished building my first SD60E unit with a Shapeways Cab
tonight. Not 100% happy with the quality of the built, but
it's passable for now since it's better than trying to scratch build
one. So, with that, I give you
Southern SD60E #6920.
November 23, 2014:
Finished a pair of
Wheeling and Lake Erie SD40-2's this morning. This
pair is not in the standard paint scheme though as
is still wearing it's former GATX colors and
is still in it's Primer Grey scheme after doing duty for the movie
Unstoppable (since repainted in to standard W&LE colors).
I also finished a pair of UP SD38-2's (Y806
Y810) that I've been working on for a few weeks.
These are my personal units, so it took longer to finish them.

Slowly showing steady progress on more projects. A week in
the states and another trip to Kuwait has kept me pretty busy
outside of modeling... The latest updates are as follows:
BNSF C40-8W, a
and weathered a pair of
Union Pacific 5161cf Hoppers.
October 4, 2014:
Finally, some new work to report. I had an unexpected trip
to Kuwait put a halt to the hobby stuff for about 10 days. My
travel schedule has suddenly increased, so things are getting more
difficult to knock out in a timely fashion. After I got back
this week, I continued working on several projects and finished
these units tonight:
BNSF C40-8W #808,
NYO&W F3A and F3B,
Rock Island U30C
Allegheny & West Virginia AC4400CW #777 (Unstoppable
August 29, 2014:
I finished painting the other six 42' gondolas and a pair of 52'
gondolas for BNSF this week. Also did a pair of 5161cf Trinity
hoppers in a hasty "what if" scheme and I think they came out rather
well. All of the cars are posted in the
BNSF freight section.
August 15, 2014:
I finished weathering four Micro-Trains
gondolas after I changed the road numbers from the
original runner pack. New owner now has 8 unique numbers.
Also finished up another rent-a-wreck. This time an SD50 in
former Conrail colors -
NREX 5456. This is the same
engine I did in HO scale back in November.
July 23, 2014:
Since I can't paint right now due to the hot weather and
humidity levels, I finally updated my roster pages with my N Scale
engines. I had slowly been creeping back into N after dabbling
in HO for the last two and a half years. So much for that
July 13, 2014:
Rolling along now, finished another
SD70ACe this afternoon.
July 11, 2014:
Finished up a
Rock Island F7 after it had been
waiting patiently for it's replacement window to arrive. Had
to weather it before I could call it done. Also knocked out
one of my own units...no really...my own stuff...it's a
C44-9W and surprisingly only took me 4 hours to knock it
out. That's what happens when you are left home alone and the
family is out doing a baseball movie marathon at a friends house.
Should do that more often...
June 28, 2014:
Slowly getting back to work on models. I finished renumbering
a pair of
UP C44-9W's while watching Brazil
and Chile duke it out in the first knock out round game. Also
masked and painted a N&W passenger car tonight, look for that one to
be completed later this weekend or early next week.
May 27, 2014:
Just got back from a trip to Italy last night and had another day
off today, so I finished up 2 more
CFMG SD40-2's units and took photos
of another AC44CW that I had finished two weeks ago. Busy as
ever, but had some down time to model again. The AC44CW unit
is a custom detailed HO Athearn unit done in the
YN3 "Boxcar" scheme.
May 11, 2014:
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, it's been a very hectic month
with our kids baseball seasons starting. We travel a lot on
the weekends because of the lack of teams that are close by.
Most of my hobby time has been cut in half because of that. We
also found out that we will be staying here for another year while I
wait to take command. Unfortunately, I have to attend several
schools back in the states over the next 14 months, so I still won't
be able to take on any new work, except for a few small projects
here and there. I'll still post updates as I go, just won't be
as frequent as the winter months.
April 11, 2014:
Completed another simple detail job on a
SD50 today. Also weathered the NYNJ SW1500 and
updated the photos.
April 10, 2014:
Another project completed. This time an HO
New York New
Still waiting to see where we are heading next with the Army, but at
least I'm clearing out the backlog of projects. I have a bunch
of items I need to work on from my own collection, so I'll be
tackling some of those next as time permits - starting with the
Canadian National SD50F.
April 9, 2014:
It's been a few days since my last update due to the kids spring
sports kicking off last week. I did manage to finish up a few
projects, however. This week's gallery updates include an
RR SD45, 2
CSX Cabeese, 2
tankers, and a
CEFX tanker. All of them are
basically "protolanced" paint schemes, meaning they are not
necessarily prototype for that particular engine or freight
March 30, 2014:
Finished up installing several Tsunami Sound Decoders this
weekend and their associated engines that were custom weathered and
patched/detailed for the
Dumas, Dalhart, & Elk City Railway (DDE).
March 15, 2014:
Indiana Railroad SD90MAC in the
25th Anniversary paint scheme today. Should have a few more
projects completed this weekend.
March 9, 2014:
Had a good and productive weekend while continuing to clean out the
backlog of items. The first item is a NW2 for the
Splint Mining Railway. Next is another pair of
cabeese custom painted and weathered in the all white scheme.
Next is another
Erie caboose and finally, I weathered another HO
February 28, 2014:
Last day of February already. To celebrate, I
finished up a pair of engines today. First is another
SD40-2 in their popular "Bluebird" scheme. The
second engine is another fantasy
Norfolk Southern unit, this time an
EMD E8A to go along with the other EMD F7A's I did a few years ago.
February 27, 2014:
I finally settled on the layout era I'm going to tackle when I
retire, so my focus is on procuring the roster for Conrail between
1998 and 1999. So, I need to clean up my roster a bit and have
posted anything that does not fit. It includes both engines
and freight cars. The list can be found

GDRMCo SD70M, but this time in HO
scale. Also added photos of the recently completed
SD40-2 and updated photos of the
SD40-2 after it was weathered. Finally, finished up
February 9, 2014:
Finished the other CSX
ICHABAD graffiti hopper today. Also had a chance to
touch up two CSX SD40-2 units (2434
2435) that I took in trade last year for some other work.
I painted these units in 2005 while I was stationed in Los Angeles.
Had to find something to do while the paint was drying on three
other projects I was working on today.
February 8, 2014:
Finished up a few projects today. First is a
SD40-2F made from a Kaslo Shops kit. The drive
train is a Kato SD40-2 and Kaslo provided the shell and most of the
details. The next project was a simple graffiti job on a
4650cf 3-Bay Hopper. The decal was custom made by a
friend on The Railwire. Finally, a couple of Will Models cast

Finally received the new compressor last Friday and was able to get back to
work. This weekend I finished the following units:
freight/passenger cars, an
Erie Caboose, three
Cabeese, and finally an HO
CSX C40-9W. I'm also making
progress on a Santa Fe Southern GP16 and should have that one
completed in the next couple of days. I've updated
the projects page with the most current progress as well.
January 4, 2014:
Added a pair of photos of an
ATSF HO car I weathered and tagged
with graffiti a few weeks ago. Just got around to taking the
photos this afternoon.
January 3, 2014:
Happy New Year everyone! We finished up 2013 with an
excellent trip to Italy. Overall it was a very good year with
only a few minor set backs. I'm still waiting on the new compressor
to arrive, but expect it early next week. I'll be working on
the models that need minor work only in the mean time. I've
also cleaned up the home page a little and moved all of the 2013
stuff to the Year In Review
December 23, 2013:
Ugh, another wonderful update today. I was working on a
batch of stuff that needed weathering when my air compressor decided
it had enough and incinerated itself.
So, I ordered another
one and it should be here on the 6th of January, which is when we
get back from our trip to Italy. At least it blew up right
before we left and not when I got back.
If you get a free moment, please stop
by and sign my guestbook. I'd love to hear from you.
